Meet Mr. Runkle, Principal
Posted on 03/14/2017
Mr. Chad Runkle began work as the Winding Creek Principal at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. He is both humbled and proud to be a part of the exciting work surrounding the opening of our newest elementary school.

Mr. Runkle earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Shippensburg University in 2000. After teaching for a year in Shippensburg Area School District, Mr. Runkle began his tenure with Cumberland Valley School District as a fourth-grade teacher at Middlesex Elementary. The following year Mr. Runkle would move to fifth grade where he taught for eight years.

After earning his Master’s Degree and Administrative Certificate, Mr. Runkle became the principal of Green Ridge Elementary in 2009. Five years later, he served as the principal of Hampden Elementary in Cumberland Valley for a two-year period. In 2016, Mr. Runkle transferred to the role of principal of Sporting Hill Elementary with the intention of getting to know the teachers and students that would be a part of the Winding Creek community. With these experiences, Mr. Runkle will have served as principal of three of the elementary schools that make up Winding Creek.

Mr. Runkle is a proud resident of the Cumberland Valley School District. Since his graduation from college, he and his wife Kelly have called CV their home. They currently reside in Indian Creek along with their three children Zachary, Riley and Carter. All three children receive their education from the talented teachers in Cumberland Valley and participate in a variety of local youth sports programs.

In his leisure time, Mr. Runkle enjoys driving his children to a variety of activities and spending time with his wife. In theory, he also wishes that he could truthfully tell you that he plays golf. Perhaps when the children are older. He is an avid reader and is passionate about furthering his own learning as a leader and educator.
